Who We Are
Alexandria Community and Human Services offers the EnergyShare Program that provides heating assistance in winter (for any heating source -- oil, gas kerosene, wood and electricity) and cooling assistance in the summer. It is a fuel assistance program for people in need who have either exhausted or do not qualify for federal or state assistance.
The EnergyShare Program provides cooling assistance in summer (help with electricity bills). Fan Care is now also part of EnergyShare. Fan Care provides fans to eligible seniors.
Contact Office of Community Services at 703-746-5901. Payments are made directly to energy vendors. The Energy Share program is funded by Dominion Virginia Power.
Households impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may qualify for assistance with energy bills, including those that have accumulated during the crisis. The Virginia COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program is available to low-income households that do not typically qualify for other Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) energy assistance programs. Each eligible household should apply online to receive a one-time payment of $300 that will address immediate energy needs.
