Who We Are
Alexandria Community and Human Services offer heating and cooling assistance. The Fuel Assistance program assists with various types of energy sources, including electricity, natural and liquid propane gas, oil, kerosene, coal and wood during the winter months to income-eligible households. The program is funded by the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) block grant. Assistance can be:
- Payment of heating bills
- Repair of heating equipment
- Delivery of oil, etc.

Virginia Energy Assistance Cooling Program - Provides cooling assistance to income-eligible households with a senior 60 years of age or older, a child under the age of six or a permanently and totally disabled individual. Assistance can be in the form of payment of an electric utility security deposit, payment of the electric bill to operate the cooling equipment, repair a central air conditioning unit or heat pump.
Electric fans may be available to qualified individuals who will benefit from a fan. Call the office for more information.
