Diabetes Management Program

Diabetes Management at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center provides practical advice on nutrition, medications, achieving better blood glucose control, hygiene, sick day management, community resources, techniques for combating stress and exercise. Individual pre-assessment and follow-up consultation are included.



Group and individual programs are intended to complement a doctor's care. Besides the Diabetes Management class, other classes include the Pre-Diabetes Education Program, Gestational Diabetes Management, Insulin Pump Program and Diabetes Support Groups.  Many insurance plans cover the cost of outpatient diabetes education programs.



The Outpatient Diabetes Management Program at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is recognized by the American Association of Diabetes Educators for quality patient education.
