Recreation Opportunities

The Fairfax County Park Authority is a multi-faceted agency which provides recreational opportunities to the residents of Fairfax County, as well as serving as the stewards of cultural, historic and natural resources in the community. Some sites charge more for out-of-county residents. Call for more information, including fees, hours, accessibility and transportation. 

For senior citizens the opportunities for enjoyment and leisure are many. Those who love to walk or hike can find trails. If fitness is the choice, visit one of the many conveniently located RECenters offering state of the art fitness centers,  drop in group exercise classes and specialty registered fitness classes.  

Adapted Aquatics programs are perfect for those with aching joints, arthritis or recovering from an illness. Several adapted programs are geared specifically for seniors who love to exercise but need a gentler approach to healthful activity.  Swimming instruction and fitness classes are also available for students with physical and mental disabilities.

Many golfing choices at numerous Park Authority courses are available throughout the community.

Free concerts are offered in summer, as well as movies.
