St. Martin de Porres Senior Center

St. Martin de Porres Senior Center provides nutrition education and hot nutritious lunches for participating elderly persons. Offers senior exercise classes, health information, recreation, education, and social services. Meal program and transportation contract with Alexandria Agency on Aging. Also offered is information and referral regarding physical and mental health.

Wellness activities such as exercise classes and Tai Chi, health education and screening, twice-weekly blood pressure monitoring, individual counseling, and support groups
Education in English as a Second Language (ESL), computer-skill training, and other classes of interest to seniors
Recreation and cultural events such as trips to local museums, parks, theaters, and restaurants; holiday parties; professional entertainment; bingo; intergenerational programs; card games; movies; and travelogues.

Round-trip transportation to the Center available for all participants residing in the west end of Alexandria City. Convenient to a bus but not a subway stop. Uses bilingual people from other agencies and Alexandria Department of Human Services.
