Who We Are
Salem Senior Center provides a variety of classes, activities, special events, and outings to the Senior Adults in the area. Classes such as bridge, bowling, golf, ceramics, exercise, basket weaving, chair caning, crafts and ballroom dance are offered on a regular basis. Seasonal classes and activities are also planned. Day trips, local as well as out of town, are taken from the center. Activity Hall is available for exercise, luncheons, aerobics, and dances.
There is no fee for most activities such as Bridge, exercise, various card games, tap dance, line dance. ballroom dance, are offered free of charge. Materials fees only are charged for crafts classes, chair caning, basket weaving, and ceramics. Call with questions; you are welcome to visit or observe any of our classes before deciding to participate with us.
Regular meetings held at the Senior Center include a monthly "Pot Luck" luncheon (last Thursday of each month), 49ers Plus Club (meets 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 11 am at the Center. Lunch is eaten at various restaurants on 2nd Thursday. Group meets for fun and donates to Salem Rescue Squad and American Red Cross), Salem Senior Singers (rehearsal on 1st Thursday at 12:30 pm. Singers perform in nursing homes and other local events), Senior Mountain Pickers (musicians (string instruments) who play informally on Mondays at 12:30 and Fridays at 10:30 am at the Senior Center. Come play along, sing and dance).
Monthly newsletters with a calendar and news of the Senior Center activities are distributed at the monthly Luncheons. Call if you would like a newsletter mailed to you.
