Tax Assistance

The Senior Center of Franklin County and AARP offer free income tax assistance. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program provide IRS-trained volunteers who provide free tax assistance at community locations convenient to the taxpayer. Basic federal and state income tax returns are prepared free of charge for individuals with low to moderate incomes, individuals with disabilities and non-English speaking taxpayers. The VITA program is aimed at those for whom assistance may be out of reach.    Tax assistance usually begins the first week of February and goes to April 15th or later if the 15th falls on a weekend.
