Who We Are

The Salvation Army can provide financial assistance to the indigent and those who are temporarily without funds or shelter, and need services. Emergency assistance will render financial assistance for rent, food, and utilities. Sub-units of this facility include the welfare office in which financial affairs, emergency assistance, etc. are handled. The community center is used for group activities.

To request housing help, the consumer must contact the Housing Hot Line at 757-587-4202.   Food Pantry closes in December to get ready for Christmas distributions.  Normal hours are Monday and Tuesday. United Way refers to the Food Pantry. Consumers under age 60 with an eviction notice can email requests for help on Fridays to vapces1@gmail.com. Consumers 60 and older can email on Tuesdays.
