Grayson County Parks and Recreation offers a large number of activities for individuals and families to enjoy. Activities include but are not limited to baseball, swimming, softball, cheerleading, hiking, and biking. There are also Day Camps, junior wrestling, and swimming classes, and much more. Please feel free to contact the office for information concerning the many programs offered.
Grayson County Parks and Recreation office is located on the northeast side of Independence. Turn north off East Main Street onto Morton; left on Oak Ridge Drive and then right on Power House Road. You'll find the park about a mile down on the right.
The recreational facilities include 2 baseball/softball fields, 2 lighted tennis courts, 2 picnic shelters with electricity (available by reservation), an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 2 concession stands, walking trail, 1.2 mile fitness trail and mountain bike courts and playground equipment.
The New River winds 30 miles through Grayson county; hiking and biking trails can be found, as well as horseback riding.
