55+ Active Communities Housing, Trailview

Trailview is an intentional community of adults 55 and above, who want to mutually support one another through the aging process.  Trailview consists of 29 homes, a common house and a Spirit Center based on CoHousing qualities.  Value is placed on inner work, caring for oneself, mutual support, service to the larger community, respect for the earth and the creative life.

The community consists of mixed income elders age 55 and older and has both market-rate owner homes and low income qualified apartment homes. Owners pay a maintenance fee.

This first Community was completed in 2006.  Residents will meet and share meals in the Common House when they decide.  On site is a Spirit Center where individuals or groups can meet for meaningful celebrations and/or exercises, a common garden and some common work space.

Intake Procedure: Review ElderSpirit documents; membership dues; attend one meeting of residents; complete application form; interview with a member of the Admissions Committee, complete Participation Agreement. Renters  must meet financial eligibility requirements and deposit one month's rent; purchasers deposit $2000 and show an ability to pay for a home.



Possible waiting period: 12 months to purchase a 2 bedroom home; three months to rent. Total of 13 homes for ownership; sixteen homes to rent.
