Who We Are
One of the amenities enjoyed by residents of Prince George County is a variety of choices for recreational activities. Many residents are attracted to the County because of its wealth of open space, which is unavailable in more densely populated areas.
Community recreational facilities are provided in conjunction with public school sites and residential subdivisions so that citizens in all parts of the County will have access to them. The Prince George County Department of Recreation and Parks offers all-season youth and adult sports, programs in physical fitness, family trips and activities, special interest classes, and youth support day camp programs.
The County has two recreation parks.
Scott Memorial Park, located at 6680 Courthouse Road, has a large pavilion and picnic tables, rest rooms, tots playground, and a softball field. Temple Recreation Park, located at 14307 Prince George Drive has one large and one small pavilion with picnic tables, rest rooms, a nature and jogging trail, tennis courts, a softball field, and a basketball court.
Rules for Use:
Each park is available to citizens from dawn to dusk each day. Pavilion facilities may be reserved by County citizens, businesses and organizations through the Parks and Recreation office. You may call (804) 733-2646 or visit the recreation office in person to fill out a reservation form. Pavilions are reserved for 1/2 day either from dawn to 3 PM or 3PM until dusk, in an effort to accommodate as many groups as possible. Full day reservations exceptions may be made upon request. Self- Cleanup required. Alcoholic Beverages prohibited.
