Lynchburg Parks and Recreation operates nine community centers. The Templeton Center serves seniors and adults of all ages in the Lynchburg area. A variety of activities are offered monthly. General activities include cards, exercise programs, music, arts and crafts, and special speakers. Special activities include Bridge Club and tax assistance.
Pick up a copy of the Activity Guide at the Templeton Center or the Miller Center at 301 Grove Street.
The Adult Program provides leisure opportunities for citizens 50 years and older utilizing three city recreation centers, two apartment complexes, churches, gyms, and restaurants in the area.
The Adult Program provides the following activities: Day Trips, free Movie Matinees, Tours, Arts and Crafts, Ballroom Dancing, Educational Program, Entertainment, Bowling, Line Dancing, Tai Chi and yoga classes, Team Sports (such as softball and volleyball), Fitness and Exercise Classes, clubs (such as couples, ceramics and writing clubs), Health Screening, The Virginia Senior Games, Income Tax assistance, Special Events (such as Banquets, picnics, Dances and Veteran's Day).
