Active Older Adults Centers

Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation manages four centers for individuals 55 and over.  Activities can include charitable projects, exercise games, trips, guest speakers and educational forums.  You can see a monthly calendar posted on the Facebook page of Parks and Recreation.  All programs are free unless otherwise indicated.  New members and volunteers are welcome.  Attending regularly makes you a member

Here is information about the 4 Centers: 

Fluvanna Community Center, 5725 James Madison Hwy in Fork Union.  The Center is open every Wednesday of the month from 10am until 2pm.  A nurse is available to check blood pressure, sugar levels and to answer any health related questions. 

Scottsville VFW, VFW Post 8169, 2997 West River Road, Scottsville VA 25690.  The center is open on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 10am until 2pm. 

Kents Store ARC Building, 111 Kents Store Way, Kents Store, Virginia 23084. This Center is open on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month from 10am until 2pm. Beginning in February 2020, the days of week will change to 1st and 3rd Thursday. 

Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 1794 Richmond Road, Troy, Virginia 11974.  The Center is open on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month from 10am until 2pm. 

The Centers will close in the event of inclement weather when schools are on a 2 hour delay or closed for the day, or on state holidays.   Please call Faith Stuart at 434-842-3150 if you have questions or would like to sign up.
