Volunteers of America Chesapeake (VOA-C) operates the Loudoun Emergency Homeless Shelter. VOA-C operates a 24 hour/7 day a week emergency shelter program for single adults and families who are experiencing a housing crisis. There is a limit to a 30-day stay.
VOA-C provides the following services directly or through partnerships:
- Mental Health Assessment and treatment
- Clothing and resources
- Group therapy
- Transportation supports
- Budgeting
- Workforce development
- Crisis intervention
- Housing counseling
- Life skills classes
- Parenting classes and education supports
- Financial literacy
In October 2009, Volunteers of America Chesapeake also began operating the Drop-In Center; a program offering day support services to homeless adults. The Drop-In Center is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Clients can use the Drop-In Center to take a shower, wash their laundry, get a hot meal, make phone calls and receive mail. On an average day, the Drop-In Center serves 15 single men and women. This program partners with Loudoun County Department of Family Services, Emergency Services, PATH/Outreach and Mental Health to ensure all individuals who utilize this resource have an opportunity to connect to various services as needed.
