Who We Are
Feeding Southwest Virginia has a distribution center in Abingdon. Feeding Southwest Virginia handles the distribution of donated food to member organizations, so the food can be delivered or picked up by those who are in need.
Food is donated by manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and others. A network of partner agencies such as churches, soup kitchens, shelters, children's centers and others come to the Food Bank to select food and products they can use to help those in need.
Member agencies distribute the food free of charge directly to individuals and families. The threefold purpose of our mission is to reduce local hunger and malnutrition, eliminate food waste by salvaging and redirecting surplus food and to be a resource to nonprofit organizations by providing them with good food to distribute via their pantries or kitchens.
