Who We Are

The mission of GoochlandCares (GC)  is to provide basic human services and health care to Goochland residents in need.  The Transportation Program assists registered clients with their appointments including medical, dental, dialysis, pharmacies, and mental health.  . This program is offered at no cost to registered clients. 

Transportation is available Monday through Friday to both Goochland and Henrico/Richmond locations. Henrico/Richmond Transportation is available Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm. Goochland Transportation is available Monday through Friday from 9 am to 2 pm. Transportation may be limited or canceled due to certain situations such as inclement weather or maintenance. Currently, the van does not travel south of the James River nor past VCU.

To access the GC Transportation program, you must be a registered client, a resident of Goochland County, age 60 and older, or an adult with disabilities.  Clients should call at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride. Clients can schedule rides by calling the Front Desk at (804) 556-6260.

For Transportation Program, individuals must be either 60 years of age or 60 and over, 18 years of age and older with a disability, and/or be low-income (have an income below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level) and reside in Goochland County.

If the weather is snowy or icy the van will not run. Medical Transportation Services hours of operation: Monday 12 pm – 3 pm for trips to Richmond; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9 am – 3 pm for trips to Goochland; Friday 9 am – NOON for trips to Richmond. You must sign up ahead of time to use this service. Call at least 24 hours before your medical appointment.
