Who We Are
The Community Center of Abingdon (formerly Abingdon Senior Center) provides diverse services to senior citizens, including recreation opportunities, group meetings, delivery of meals to homebound, support groups and has use for volunteers.
The Center is access point also for Area Agency on Aging; American Association of Retired Persons; Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Department of Visually Handicapped. Supporting contributions, memorials and bequests are also welcomed.
Senior Center has recently completed the construction on the Virginia Ballroom in Historic Abingdon, it is an elegant setting for the Virginia Ballroom Cafe and is available for room rentals and catering functions
Senior Center provides home delivered meals for older adults by referral from health care facilities, social agencies, family, friends or neighbors. Program also has sponsors from local churches and organizations. Specialty diets are referred to Area Agency on Aging for service. Applications for use of the facility by groups and individuals are on-going.
