Who We Are

The Louisa County Health Department offers environmental health services.  The staff evaluates and regulates establishments such as restaurants, festival events, daycare centers, migrant labor camps, motels, and campgrounds to ensure that food safety and other environmental codes are met. Training/education is provided for food handlers.

Staff also evaluates drinking water sites and issues construction permits for water wells and on-site private sewage disposal systems. Fees may apply. Staff monitors animal bite reports as part of the rabies prevention program and provides information on other environmental issues like radon, lead, asbestos, and more.  Please visit the website to learn more about specific services.
