Who We Are
NOTE: In light of the COVID-19 virus there have been some changes to our home-delivered meal program. Our program, which is funded by the DC Dept. of Aging & Community Living (DACL) has been suspended during the COVID-19 public health emergency. DACL has replaced it with a program they are calling their "Emergency Home-Delivered Meal" program. DACL's program delivers seven frozen meals per week (i.e. one meal per day) that must be reheated in an oven or microwave. The program is restricted to DC residents (age 60 and greater), who also are at "high nutrition risk." Program applicants must complete a nutrition screen (which is administered when the call) in order to determine if the meet the "high nutrition risk" eligibility requirement. DACL has contracted with five nonprofits, which they call "Lead Agencies," to complete the paperwork (and nutrition screen) for their program
Home Delivered Meals are available to eligible older adults on both weekdays and weekends in the District of Columbia. We offer a variety of meal delivery programs through several vendors. During the initial assessment, the client and Iona staff member will determine the best meal program suitable to your needs.
