Who We Are
Northern Shenandoah Valley Adult Education provides quality and comprehensive adult education programs throughout the region. Helps adults improve reading, writing and math skills to help them qualify for a better job, improve family resources or begin working toward the GED credential. Call for location. Some locations are accessible to the handicapped and some locations are accessible to public transportation.
Level I students are non-readers through fourth grade level, and basic reading and mathematics are primary focus. Level II students have reading, mathematics and language skills at fifth to eight grade levels, and in addition to academic competency, life skills such as nutrition, self-esteem, decision-making are included. Individuals under the age of l8 need written permission or release from the public school system. In order to determine the proper class placement and to help the student make the transition to adult education, an orientation session is offered on Tuesday evenings from 5:00PM-7:30PM and there is a $5.00 charge for the orientation/assessment session.
