Who We Are

Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute provides intensive short-term treatment to individuals with acute mental health needs living in Northern Virginia. The treatment plan is individualized to meet the needs of each patient. Services are provided by interdisciplinary treatment team of psychologists, nursing staff, social workers and activities therapists. All patients receive group treatment services, as well. Family therapy services are provided, as needed.



Options of the program include group psychotherapies, independent living skills training, medication education, stress management, community reintegration and a variety of recreational activities.

Ages 18-65. Resident of one of the 5 CSB districts in Northern Virginia (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax-Falls Church, Loudoun and Prince William).

Intake Process
All admissions are pre-screened by the Community Service Board (CSB) in the person's area of residence. Once the determination for need has been made, contact with the Admissions office is made to arrange intake.
