Parks & Recreation

Roanoke City Parks & Recreation maintains trails, parks, recreation centers and swimming pools. The department provides a broad range of recreation and leisure opportunities for youth, adults and senior citizens of the Roanoke valley. Activities include: organized sports, outdoor recreation, country dancing, day trips, arts and crafts, ceramics, baton, karate, etc. Also, coordinates grounds maintenance efforts to improve the environmental quality and image of the city, assists economic development and provides support for recreation services. Information on classes and camps is available in seasonal newspapers found in local libraries and other public locations.



The mission is to maximize all available resources to deliver parks, recreation facilities and programs that are attractive, clean, accessible and provide memorable experiences.
