In this presentation, we will explore the phenomenon of ageism within all levels of society. We will discuss how the cultural narrative of aging as decline and the institutionalization ofretirement as a stage of life has shaped our expectations and experiences and understanding of Elderhood as a unique development in the life cycle. Together we will examine what we think we know about Elderhood, what we know about Elderhood and what we have yet to discover about the unique period in our life.
