Who We Are
The Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (VAELA) is a non-profit professional association of attorneys which educates its members and others regarding needs and solutions for the elderly, their families, and their caregivers, and advocates for beneficial care and laws for these persons. VAELA’s mission is to educate, inspire and empower legal representation of older adults and clients with disabilities and their families, and to advocate their issues before courts and legislatures.
VAELA attorneys offer comprehensive legal services including basic to complex estate planning, probate and trust administration services, special needs planning for children and adults, assistance with guardianship and conservatorship, and preserving eligibility for Medicaid and other public benefits.
The VAELA website offers an Elder Law library. To find a VAELA Attorney Member use the Find an Attorney search on the website.
