Who We Are

UVA's Palliative care program in the Emily Couric Center provides comprehensive care for people with any chronic medical condition,, which most likely cannot be cured.  These people can benefit from palliative care services.  People receiving aggressive treatment for their disease often experience side effects.  These individuals can also receive palliative care to assist with symptom management and to receive psychological, emotional, financial and spiritual support.

Symptom management for patients in final stages of cancer, cardiac, lung or liver disease, cerebral vascular disease, AIDS or other terminal illness is provided. Patients may also be admitted to the unit to provide a transition period prior to discharge with hospice home care.

For 24 hour assistance, call 804-924-0000 and ask for page # 1539. The unit is located on 3-Central in UVA's Medical Center and has 6 private room and a home-like setting.
