Who We Are

Shenandoah Valley Social Services, APS Unit is located in the Waynesboro office.  The APS unit serves the County of Augusta, City of Waynesboro, and City of Staunton.  APS investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation in adults 60 and older and incapacitated adults 18 and over.  The mission of APS is to protect older adults and incapacitated adults from abuse, neglect, or exploitation, prevent the abuse, neglect, or exploitation, prevent the inappropriate institutionalization of the elderly or incapacitated, assist when necessary with appropriate placement, and maximize self-sufficiency.  Individuals must reside in the city of Waynesboro, Staunton, or County of Augusta or the incident must have occurred in the city of Staunton, Waynesboro, or County of Augusta in order to be eligible for Adult Protective Services.

APS Intake is available Monday – Friday from 8-5, if you would like further information or to report suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation, please contact us directly at 540-942-6648.  Due to the high volume of calls received, you must leave a message; however, your call will be answered by the end of the business day.  After 5pm, weekends, or holidays reports can be made to the 24 hour hotline by calling 1-888-832-3858.
