Who We Are
Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread serves any homebound individual in Radford and Fairlawn who requests delivery of meals. Daily Bread does not ask anyone to explain or justify their need. There is no fee.
Many of the recipients are elderly and living alone. Many have difficulty walking or standing long enough without a walker to cook. Some do have family, neighbors, or nursing aides who assist them. In that case, the daily lunch not only benefits the recipient, but also provides some relief for the caregiver. In addition, the delivery of a meal is a welcome opportunity for human contact for some individuals.
One meal is cooked each weekday. Diverse dietary preferences cannot be accommodated with donated food. We do not add salt to dishes prepared in the kitchen: however, some canned or packaged items included may already contain salt. Fresh or canned fruit is sometimes available
Meals are delivered between 10:00 AM and Noon all weekdays, except New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and when the Radford City schools close for hazardous weather.
