YWCA of South Hampton Roads
Who We Are
The YWCA offers a 24-hour Crisis hotline, 757-251-0144, to provide support, counseling, and advocacy to women, children, and men victimized by sexual assault. Assistance is available to anyone who has experienced any type of sexual violence including rape, attempted rape, molestation, child sexual abuse, sexual harassment, stalking, and relationship violence.
A YWCA On-Call Crisis Counselor is available 24/7 to respond to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking, and their family members/friends to provide support, information, and advocacy. Hospital, law enforcement, and magistrate/courts accompaniment for protective orders are also available.
The YWCA’s 24-Hour Hotline serves the cities of Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, South Hampton, and the Isle of Wight Counties.
The YWCA also coordinates the Sexual Assault Response Teams (SARTs) in each of the following localities: Chesapeake, Franklin, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, and Virginia Beach, as well as a military SART. SART's purpose is to provide a sensitive and competent multidisciplinary response, to support efforts to restore the well-being of the victim, and to bring the responsible person(s) to justice.
