Who We Are

The Demeter House is a residential substance use disorder treatment center for women in need of addiction recovery from alcohol, cocaine, marijuana, narcotics, and other dangerous substances. The treatment addresses the special needs of women, including expectant mothers and mothers with children.

Treatment for substance abuse is provided and along with childcare, allowing mothers to recover without having to worry about their children. While women are receiving addiction treatment, they are also caring for their children or learning how to.

Treatment typically runs about three months, though length of stay is based on an individual's own progress and condition. Certified counselors employ a traditional 12-step model based on Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous as well as individual and group counseling. Up to two children, ages 12 and younger, can live with their mother while as she learns to cope with alcoholism or drug addiction.
