Who We Are

The organization's goal is to ensure that impaired vision need not mean impaired lives by providing large print, visual aids, emotional support, educational outreach to the public and professionals who serve the "hard of seeing"; referral and advocacy services. NAVH serves as the "Spokes organization" for the partially seeing. While many organizations serve the totally blind, many individuals are not completely served since their specialized and individual needs differ from the totally blind. Referring individuals who are not totally blind to agencies for the blind can have psychological trauma because they do not need guide dogs or Braille, etc. The vast majority of those who partially see will never go totally blind. NAVH is recognized by American Medical Association as a national voluntary health agency and as such works closely with the medical profession and related fields.
