Legal Information and Referrals for Cancer Patients

Legal Information Network for Cancer (LINC) is a nonprofit, community-based organization dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families deal with the business side of cancer, enabling them to focus on getting well.   LINC's social worker assists patients in locating community resources to assist with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. Her services are free of charge.

LINC refers clients to certified financial planners trained in assisting cancer patients and debt counseling agencies to assist with financial issues. Additionally, through their network of referral attorneys, LINC offers legal assistance to help cancer patients with insurance, estate planning, powers of attorney, advanced medical directives, employment, housing, custody, disability benefits and appeals, bill negotiation, bankruptcy, property distribution, Medicare/Medicaid benefits as well as other areas of the law.

Legal fees are based on ability to pay. Low income individuals may be eligible for free legal assistance. For a referral in Central Virginia area, please call LINC at one of the numbers.
