Adopt-A-Senior Program

Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Hanover-Ashland TRIAD, Ashland Police Department, AARP and Hanover County government offices offer the Adopt-a-Senior Program. The program provides additional support and reassurance for older adults with special needs.  Targeted for participation are individuals or couples aged 60 and over who live alone and have limited mobility or medical problems which renders them homebound, and who have limited family or social support.

Referral or request for participation is accepted from third parties such as human service agencies, extended family members, neighbors, and friends, as well as from the older adult themselves. The request must be in writing. Upon receipt of a request, a representative will make an appointment for a home visit.  The assigned officer will call his senior at least once a week.
