Every Woman's Life Program for Breast Cancer Screening
Mount Rogers Health District
Who We Are
Mount Rogers Health District participates in the Every Woman's Life (EWL) program, a public health program that helps uninsured, low income women gain access to free breast cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates and improve treatment options. For early detection of breast cancer, the best option is regular mammograms for women over the age of 40.
In some sites where EWL services are offered, women can also be screened for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose and also learn how to become more physically active, eat healthier foods, and more. For detailed information about eligibility guidelines for EWL program and to find a screening provider site, go to http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/ofhs/Prevention/ewl/provider.htm.
