ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter
Who We Are
The ALS Association is the only national not-for-profit voluntary health organization whose sole mission is to find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and improve living with ALS.
The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter was founded in 1991 by a group of dedicated volunteers to respond to the critical needs of people with ALS, and to give support to the family and friends who care for ALS patients. It is the primary resource for patient services in DC, Maryland and Virginia.
All services are offered free of charge and are funded through donations and fund raising events. The Chapter is a participating organization in the Combined Federal Campaign through its association with Community Health Charities. For more information on CFC codes click here.
Goals: To offer programs and support to ALS patients and their families. To provide community education and stimulate public awareness about ALS. To raise funds for local patient services and for national research into the causes and cures.
