Who We Are
Russell County Health Department offers prevention, investigation and control of communicable disease.
Communicable Disease Prevention and Control provides screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of all persons exposed to specific diseases; tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases (STD's), HIV/AIDS, food borne illness and more. Information is given regarding prevention from exposure, recognizing symptoms and obtaining treatment. Tuberculin skin test, free in some instances, chest x-rays, evaluation, monitoring of TB cases and contacts are provided. An anonymous HIV Counseling and Testing Clinic is offered. Information on medication and other assistance available for low income persons.
