Community Development

The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health (VBDPH) has a Community Development Office.  It is the population health arm which aims to improve the health of the entire population and reduce health inequities in Virginia Beach. Population health refers to not only the overall health of a population, but also to the distribution of health outcomes within a population, which include the range of personal, social, economic, and environmental factors that influence health outcomes, and the policies and interventions that affect those factors. 

The Community Development Office supports a wide range of programs and projects of the VBDPH, such as partnering with organizations that also serve the community as well as providing education and outreach around public health resources.
